Fifth Sense volunteer Joanne organised another great event, this time a lunchtime gathering in The Town Wall, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Most of the attendees had been to other meetings and events, but there were one or two new faces, who were quickly made welcome. Over drinks and food, everyone swapped stories – how and when they realised they had a smell and taste disorder, coping strategies and ways to approach medical professionals to ensure their concerns were fully understood.
Unfortunately, everyone was having such a good time that Joanne forgot to take photos! Everyone agreed that being able to meet up with others who had been in a similar situation or understood what they’d gone through was helpful, particularly when their disorder makes them feel isolated.
Another event will be organised soon, possibly in Newcastle or somewhere else in the North East, so if you’d like to come along, details will be in a future newsletter.
