FIFTH SENSE
Fifth Sense Corporate Partnerships
As a physically small charity working nationally across the UK and supporting people all over the world, every little bit of help goes a long way. We are supported in many different ways from simple online donations to taking part in a sponsored event and volunteering time and expertise. We remain enormously grateful to people who support us in any way they can but it is not just individuals who can make the difference – organisations can also make a massive difference in what we do.
What Corporate Support Can Do:
There are lots of different ways organisations can help us:
- Make corporate donations.
- Donate staff time to contribute to projects or events.
- Choose Fifth Sense as your “Charity of the Year” if you run such a scheme.
- Run corporate fundraisers – from a charity ball to a cake sale in the office or a charity fun run. And we would love to hear about any other ideas you might have.
- Apply to become one of our corporate partners.
- Apply to be a corporate member.
What is Corporate Support?
We look to partner with organisations who share similar values, ambitions and ethics as ourselves. Whilst we are dedicated to supporting people affected by smell and taste disorders – we aren’t just looking for organisations directly connected to these senses but to companies who value care and compassion. We value corporate partners who understand that smell and taste are senses that are of equal importance to our other physical senses and that who share our ambition of raising awareness to recognise this in the wider world.
Why Provide Corporate Support?
Being a charity partner demonstrates that your company values community and is ethically conscious. Partnering with Fifth Sense contributes to a global community of people who cannot (or have challenges with) smell or taste – senses everyone takes for granted.
Many employees value working for an organisation that partners with a charity. It can be beneficial to them both spiritually and professionally to be able to get involved with charitable projects or events. Working with a charity is also a way of building your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which is a vital part of competitive business in the 21st Century. In a world where millions more people have been left with smell or taste disorders as a result of Covid-19, your involvement could be directly supporting your own staff and customers.
If you are unable to consider becoming a Corporate Partner then you could help us in other ways by becoming a Corporate Member – for an annual fee you can make a simple regular donation and receive the following benefits:
- Fifth Sense Corporate Supporter logo for use on your marketing literature and publications
- Your logo and profile to be displayed on our Partners and Projects webpage
- Membership certificate(s) to display in your workplace(s)
- Monthly mailing of Quintus Sensu, our regular newsletter, to email addresses of your choice for distribution within your organisation
- Invitation to exclusive members events such as the Smell and Taste Bi-Annual conference.
- Being the first to hear about news, events and sponsorship opportunities
- 20% discount on exhibiting at our Bi-Annual Conferences
- Free smell and taste awareness campaign literature and posters
Why Choose Fifth Sense?
Smell and taste disorders are not new and neither is Fifth Sense. We have been in existence since 2012 helping people who have lost or have impaired smell and/or taste. Smell and taste disorders have numerous causes including various virus’ that pre-date Covid-19, head injuries, neurodegnerative conditions such as Parkinsons and Alzheimers or by chronic rhinological infections, allergies and some people are born without the ability to smell. There are many great charities that help people with individual conditions like Parkinson’s UK, Dementia UK and the Alzheimer’s Society to name a few – they all do vital work helping people with those respective conditions. We are different because we help all people who have a smell or taste disorder regardless of its cause with dedicated help specifically to help them live and manage without these vital senses.
The need is great. According to research before the Covid-19 pandemic, it was estimated that about 1 in 3 people have a smell/taste disorder. That means there are around 5 million people with a smell/taste disorder in the UK alone it is our aim to remain the go-to charity help everyone affected either personally or who care/support someone affected.
We work exceedingly hard with the resources available to us; by increasing our resources you will radically improve what we can offer.
Fifth Sense Corporate Partners:
FlavorActiv became a corporate partner in 2015. Rich Broughton, CEO says “We feel there is much we can do to support Fifth Sense and its members, and to help spread the message to the public, medical and industry communities. There is also the need for beverage and food companies to be more involved and better aware, and we can work with them to take the necessary steps to consider smell and taste disorders and how they can affect their customers. ” They have made donations to our work that have enabled the development of toolkits and support resources. You can read more about this partnership here
Cadent Gas are another of our partners. They contribute to our #LetsTalkSmellAndTaste events educating people about the importance of safety when you cant smell or taste and you can read more here
Corporate Membership:
We are always trying to find ways to improve ourselves as a charity and there are loads of different ways that you can help. Obviously, to a small charity like ourselves, money is always extremely useful. This could go towards sponsoring local meetings enabling peer support and education to be delivered to help people better understand their condition and connect with others with lived experience.
Money isn’t the only way that you can help us. Corporate members may have specialist areas of expertise are always welcome, for example, you may be a legal member who can advise or provide reduced rates to those with head injury claims etc.
Code of Fundraising Practice and Guidance:
When working with businesses we follow best practice guidance as outlined in the Fundraising Regulator’s Charities Working with Business Code of Fundraising Practice.
