Welcome to the Information Sheets & Support Videos page, where you can utilise resources to help you learn more about smell and taste disorders, use the information to understand the conditions, access credible self-help materials and access valuable experiences of people affected by smell and taste disorders.
This section, has been developed in collaboration with people who have lived experience of smell and taste disorders. All our health information is checked and approved by Prof. Carl Philpott our Director for Research and Medical Affairs.
You will find a raft of educational resources including top tips, factual information, diary logs and videos – all designed to be helpful, easy to understand and underpinned by medical facts.
From advice and guidance about how to eat well, to tips about managing your day-to-day safety and how to talk effectively with your medical teams, our resources are completely free to download and use.
Information Sheets
Our Information Sheets have been developed and produced by patients and medical advisors to help you to understand your smell or taste disorder, learn about how they are caused, how to manage your safety and guidance about how to talk with your family and friends, doctors and other health professionals.
#1 Post-Viral Olfactory Dysfunction (PVOD) Including COVID-19
This is the Information Sheet for you if you (or someone you support) live with a smell disorder caused by a virus – this includes Covid-19.
#2 Post Traumatic Olfactory Loss (PTOL)
This is the Information Sheet for you if you (or someone you support) live with a smell disorder caused by a brain injury.
#3 Chronic Rhinosinusitis (CRS) With/Without Nasal Polyps And Allergies
This is the Information Sheet for you if you (or someone you support) live with a smell disorder caused by Chronic rhinosinusitis with or without nasal polyps and allergies.
#4 Idiopathic Smell/Taste Disorders
This is the Information Sheet for you if you (or someone you support) live with a smell disorder that has no known causation or for which there has been no diagnosis.
#5 Congenital Anosmia
This is the Information Sheet for you if you (or someone you support) was born without the ability to smell, or has no living memory of ever having been able to smell.

This is the Information Sheet for you if you (or someone you support) has a true taste disorder that is in isolation from a smell disorder.
