Post Viral Olfactory Loss/COVID-19 Smell Disorders and Access to Treatments – #LetsTalkSmellAndTaste Webinar
On September 10th 2020, Fifth Sense #LetsTalkSmellAndTaste online support conversations returned from the summer break. The first of the Autumn programme was a webinar-based look into access to treatments and care for smell disorders as a result of post-viral olfactory loss and Covid-19. We were honoured to host Ms Cath Rennie, ENT Consultant Surgeon, and Lizzie Bullock – Rhinology Clinical Nurse Specialist from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust sharing their experiences and expertise. Lizzie has acquired a smell disorder (anosmia/parosmia) as a result of Covid-19 and she shared her personal and professional experiences, whilst Cath talked about about medical treatments, access to care, self-management tools and how to take part in research.
Usually, our #LetsTalkSmellAndTaste events are facilitated conversations between people affected by smell and taste disorders. We designed them based on input from members and we developed them to ensure everyone attending feels supported and confident to share their experiences and to also maximise the benefit of peer support. For those reasons, we don’t record or share those events. However, we have scheduled some larger webinar based sessions based on feedback we received from our pilot programme in May of this year. We hope to see more of you taking part in our conversations and we will be sharing the webinars where appropriate.
Our October sessions are now live and bookable. To access these, please click here and follow the instructions to sign up (free) to Fifth Sense. From there you will receive the latest information and ticket booking information for these events.
