Spring 2024 Fundraising Campaign
Spring into action this March and help drive change with our Change Drives Change fundraising campaign which launches today and runs until Friday 29th March.
At Fifth Sense, we are leading the way with our pioneering work supporting people affected by smell and taste disorders. There is so much more still to be done, and we need your help to achieve even more.
We’re encouraging people to donate, no matter how big or small, to help us develop the vital work we are doing to provide direct support and information to those affected, educate public and professionals and support research.
Here’s how you can help us:
Are you affected by a smell or taste disorder?
Could you donate or raise £1, £5, £10 or £20 for every year you’ve been affected?
Or perhaps you could undertake some fundraising activities for Fifth Sense.
Of course if you have congenital anosmia, or have been affected for many years, you may wish to consider a lesser amount per year. We’re just hoping to encourage everyone to think about what feels comfortable to them.
Do you have a loved one affected by a smell or taste disorder?
You could donate or raise money for every year they have been affected.
Are you a healthcare professional, or do you work in the food and beverage or fragrance industry?
You could donate or raise money for every year you have been in a role where smell and taste is a key factor in your work.

Your support will help us to:
- Provide direct support to even more people, whatever the cause of their smell or taste disorder.
- Continue growing our education programme for health professionals, charities and public sector organisations through outreach work and workshops.
- Grow our research fund and promote, support and facilitate research into smell and taste disorders. We are committing to using at least 25% of the money raised through this campaign towards developing our own research programme.
- Develop our pioneering public engagement work to raise awareness of the effects of these under-recognised sensory impairments by having a presence at science fairs, food festivals, and disability forums.
- Increase opportunities for Fifth Sense members to be involved in our public and professional engagement activities.
- Increase our engagement with minority and underserved communities who might not yet be aware of Fifth Sense and the work we do.
- Increase our lobbying and campaigning work at a national and local level for better recognition and health services for people with smell and taste disorders.
The money raised in this campaign will help us to continue and grow our vital work and help us lead the way in making change happen.
Survey: Driving change in the UK for smell and taste disorders
We have launched a survey to capture the perspectives of our beneficiaries in the UK.
Please share your experiences of accessing specialist care and tell us about the changes you would like to see to help improve the lives people in the UK with impaired smell and taste. Your views and experiences will help shape our plans to increase our lobbying and campaigning work. Thank you.
The survey should take approximately five minutes to complete.
