A Taste and Smell Workshop for School Children in Norwich

Year 3 and year 8 pupils at Town Close Prep School in Norwich were treated to a special workshop earlier this month, when Fifth Sense trustee and Consultant ENT Surgeon Mr. Carl Philpott delivered a smell and taste workshop.

Headmaster Nick Bevington reported that the children were all fascinated and learnt a lot from the session, suggesting that awareness and understanding of smell and taste and related disorders should be explored in a classroom setting.

The workshop gave all the pupils the opportunity to learn a great deal about smell and taste, including the five recognised basic tastes and the important fact that every other flavour is in fact detected by our sense of smell.

A successful event which we are keen to repeat elsewhere in future.
