Taste, Train, Enjoy workshop – University of East Anglia, 23rd June 2016
We are holding a ‘Taste, Train, Enjoy’ workshop aimed at people with impaired olfactory function on 23rd June 2016 at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. This is being delivered by our partners FlavorActiV and friends of Fifth Sense Alex Sergeant and Dave Hart from Strangers Coffee in Norwich.
We are currently undertaking a pilot study with FlavorActiV as part of our joint effort towards helping people who have an impaired sense of smell better understand and appreciate their remaining tasting ability. The Norwich event will feature a short tasting session run by FlavorActiV followed by the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained to a ‘real-life’ example – coffee, in this case.
The FlavorActiV team’s tasting session will be focused on identification of the basic tastes – sweet, sour, salty, bitter. Alex and Dave will then be brewing two coffees with very different taste profiles for guests to sample and understand how basic taste contributes so much to the experience of coffee.
This is going to be a very informal session and there will be the opportunity to meet other Fifth Sense members and chat.
