About

As a professor of Rhinology and Olfactology at the University of East Anglia I lead a number of research projects related to chronic sinusitis and smell and taste disorders. My main clinical interests include the medical and surgical treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic fungal rhinosinusitis and other sino-nasal disorders.

In addition, as Director of the first British Smell and Taste Clinic, I have had the opportunity to research the impact of olfactory disorders on suffers and trials for a potential new treatment for a reduced sense of smell are currently being run. I helped to establish the patient-led charity, Fifth Sense after meeting Duncan Boak in 2012. At that time, there wasn’t any support available to people with a smell and taste disorder and it was little known outside of my speciality in the medical world

I am proud to be a Trustee and the Director of Research and Medical Affairs for the charity.  Other roles that I hold include the ENT Lead for the Eastern Local Clinal Research Network as well as the current President of the British Society for Academic Otorhinolaryngology, and Vice President of The British Otorhinolaryngology & Allied Sciences Research Society.

Aside from this I am a keen cyclist and a supporter of my childrens tennis and athletic endeavours.
