safety element of being unable to smell."
We are starting to extend the reach of our Engagement and Education programme across the UK, with a great session for the Alzheimer’s Society Derbyshire team delivered by Helen, our Education and Engagement Officer, on the 1st of August. We’re ensuring that vital information on staying safe and well at home with a smell disorder is included in these sessions as part of our partnership with Cadent, the UK’s largest gas distribution network.
It was good to engage with a new audience and talk about the impact of smell disorders, linking this to the safeguarding of people affected by Dementia, their carers, family and friends.
Some great feedback on the presentation was received.
“Thanks for a really informative session.”
“It was surprising to me that I hadn’t considered the safety element of being unable to smell.”
We are looking to extend our reach further within the Alzheimer’s Society, other charities and organisations over the coming months. We offer free information sessions to help individuals and organisations better understand the impact that smell and taste disorders can have on people’s health, wellbeing and safety to ensure that people affected by these hidden, under-recognised sensory impairments are given the support they need.
